Starbucks workers picket in University District as part of national ‘Red Cup Rebellion’

If you tried to grab your morning coffee in the University District Saturday, you may have noticed some extra noise outside. Workers at the Starbucks on North High Street near East 14th Avenue held a picket as part of a nationwide strike effort known as the “Red Cup Rebellion.”

Starbucks employees across the country have been participating in similar demonstrations since earlier this month. Workers say contract negotiations have stalled as they push for improved scheduling, higher take-home pay, and resolutions to what they describe as unfair labor practices.
