New SNAP work requirements

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – New federal rules are expanding work requirements for people receiving federal nutrition assistance.

Under the changes, adults up to age 64 must work, volunteer or attend school at least 20 hours a week to qualify for benefits. The rules no longer include exemptions for veterans, people experiencing homelessness or those who aged out of foster care.

Supporters of these changes said they will cut waste and abuse in the system…
