ZANESVILLE – A public hearing was hosted by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio in Zanesville’s council chambers Dec. 3. It posed a simple question for the community: What do you think of AEP Ohio and its application to increase rates for electric distribution?
Two Zanesville residents took the podium and spoke against AEP Ohio’s endeavor to raise electricity distribution rates of between 0.96% and 2.26% for its approximate 1.5 million residential customers in 61 counties across the state.
“I believe the PUCO should reject the flat fee monthly charge that is being proposed to increase from $10 to $13.50 a month,” said Zanesville Mayor Don Mason. “Increasing the flat fee negates the residential customer attempts to manage their costs by using less – because no matter what, they pay the monthly fee.”…
