Groveport city worker on paid leave after alleged social media insult to police officers

GROVEPORT, Ohio (WSYX) — A City of Groveport manager, Joyce Myers, has been placed on paid administrative leave following accusations of insulting police officers on social media.

A five-page complaint filed by Groveport police Lt. Josh Short last month alleges that Myers, the personnel director, wrote a Facebook post under the pseudonym “Anonymous Participant 979” on the community page “The Good, Bad, and Ugly of Groveport.” The post reportedly referred to several Groveport police officers as “a group of idiots.”

Brian Toth, executive vice president with the Fraternal Order of Police #9, expressed his dismay, stating, “I was appalled, and every officer in Groveport, and, matter of fact, every officer in Franklin County, Ohio, should be offended by that statement.”…
