COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The north Columbus property that housed Fujiyama Steak House of Japan for nearly 40 years has been sold following the restaurant’s permanent closure earlier this month.
The former hibachi restaurant at 5755 Cleveland Ave. was acquired Dec. 11 by the International Academy of Columbus, according to records from the Franklin County Auditor’s Office. The public charter school, which serves kindergarten through eighth grade and operates independently of local school districts, is located next door at 2439 Fuji Drive.
The sale follows Fujiyama’s closure in early December after nearly four decades in business. The restaurant opened in 1986 and was among the first Japanese restaurants in central Ohio.
