NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio — Cooper Standard Automotive will permanently close its New Lexington facility, eliminating 228 jobs over a 17-month period, according to a WARN notice filed with the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.
The automotive parts manufacturer will begin initial layoffs at the State Route 345 NE location on Feb. 6, 2026, with complete shutdown scheduled for July 1, 2027, the notice said. The company attributed the decision to ongoing analysis of plant utilization and efforts to optimize its manufacturing footprint and overall operating efficiency.
The closure will affect 193 hourly workers represented by UAW Local 1686 and 36 salaried employees. Operators comprise the largest group of affected workers at 84, followed by 36 finishing operators…
