COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A two-year-old girl is dead after being shot Monday evening in east Columbus.

Police said officers went to the 1500 block of East Long Street at 8:38 p.m. on reports a child was shot. The child, identified as Va’Nyiah Mason, was found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 9:13 p.m., per police. A preliminary investigation said this was a non-intentional shooting but investigators are trying to determine how a firearm was accessed.
