Heroic Ohioans seek to block $600M public windfall to billionaire Browns owners

Hooray for former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann and his co-plaintiff, former lawmaker Jeff Crossman, who are challenging the authority of the General Assembly to transfer $600 million in state unclaimed funds to benefit the Browns Brook Park stadium project. And hooray for Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Bill Sperlazza who’s temporarily halted the funding plan (“Ohio judge calls for a timeout on $600M Browns stadium funding,” Dec. 24).

And shame on Gov. Mike DeWine, for signing the budget bill that handed this money to the out-of-state billionaire Haslams, who want to use it to line their pockets with more money. Wouldn’t this Ohio money be better used if given to the 611 school districts in our state? Doesn’t it make sense to give this money to Ohio schoolchildren, rather than some Tennessee billionaires who just want to make more money?…
