A crowded motorhome carrying 15 people from Ohio overturned early Saturday morning following a collision in Marion County, leaving a five-year-old boy dead and more than a dozen others fighting for their lives.
The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of US-27 and County Road 316. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the motorhome was traveling south on US-27 when it collided with an SUV heading west on CR-316. The force of the impact caused the large recreational vehicle to flip over.
Troopers confirmed that a five-year-old boy inside the motorhome was pronounced dead at the scene. Twelve other passengers were rushed to area hospitals in critical condition.
