COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – It really cannot be emphasized enough just how much the Ohio Legislature is focused on property taxes—and with good reason. Ohio homeowners are deeply concerned about being priced out of their homes, and while lawmakers took major steps on tax reform this year, they are by no means finished.
Last week, Gov. Mike DeWine (R) signed a slate of bills that lawmakers have repeatedly called the most consequential property tax legislation in 50 years. DeWine said he believes those new laws will bring much-needed relief and clarity to Ohioans who are struggling under the property tax burden.
“My sister-in-law is a realtor and told me a few months ago, said she’s seen people that are literally selling their houses,” DeWine said. “Selling their houses because they cannot pay their new tax that they have. So there is a problem.”…
