Columbus neighborhood sees vehicle break-ins spike, car owner takes action

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A southeast Columbus neighborhood has become a hot spot for car break-ins, according to DeJuan Davidson, who owns several rental properties in the area. “They are taking guns, they are taking valuables, debit cards, credit cards,” Davidson said. Many of these crimes have been caught on doorbell cameras.

After being targeted three times in recent months, Davidson decided to take action. “Set them up,” he said. “I left an iPhone in my car, so they could take the bait and followed them.”

Last week, just days before Christmas, thieves broke into Davidson’s car and stole his iPhone…
