Ohio launches new option for reporting public benefits fraud in 2026

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new section on the Ohio auditor’s website is dedicated to gathering tips about potential fraud involving public benefits programs.

Ohio benefit and public assistance programs are administered and enforced by state and county agencies. Because the Ohio auditor of state is responsible for auditing public expenditures across all levels of government, allegations involving the potential misuse of public funds are submitted to that office.

“We want to make sure that public resources that are supposed to be helping the most vulnerable among us are not lining the pockets of crooks,” State Auditor Keith Faber said in a statement…
