Columbus police solve 100 homicide cases in 2025, giving families hope for justice

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police announced Thursday that detectives solved 70 of the 84 homicides that occurred in the city last year, while also clearing 30 additional homicide cases from previous years, including a 25-year-old cold case from 2000.

The Columbus Division of Police shared new data revealing increased efforts to solve homicide cases, including the addition of a full-time forensic investigative genetic genealogist to their Unsolved Case Review team, according to Assistant Chief Gregory Bodker.
