Man arrested in Florida on homicide charge in Columbus’ Eastmoor neighborhood

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – An arrest has been made in a fatal shooting from October, with police finding the suspect in Florida.

According to Columbus police, Shaquir Cromwell, 30, was arrested in December in Hollywood, Florida. He was then indicted Wednesday in the death of Tyris Sowell, 30, on charges including murder and tampering with evidence.

Police had responded Oct. 7 about 11 a.m. to the Eastmoor neighborhood, near Templeton and South James roads, where they found Sowell suffering from a gunshot wound. Sowell was taken to a hospital, where he died less than a half hour later. See an earlier report on the shooting in the video player above.
