Combating violent crime in Columbus in 2026

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new year and new goals for major cities across Ohio, hoping to lower crime even further in 2026.

Both the cities of Columbus and Cincinnati reported fewer than 100 homicides in 2025, while Cleveland saw the number of its homicides drop by 16% compared to the year before. But leaders say there’s still more work to be done.
