Multiple inches of snow possible in Ohio this week

OHIO — A developing low-pressure system is expected to bring a return of winter weather to parts of northern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania beginning late Tuesday and continuing through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service Cleveland.

Forecasters say rain will move into the region late Tuesday night into early Wednesday. As colder air moves in, the rain is expected to transition to snow around midday Wednesday. Snowfall totals are expected to range from about 1 to 4 inches, with the highest amounts generally near the Lake Erie shoreline and lower totals farther inland.

The accumulating snow could create travel difficulties, particularly during the Wednesday evening commute and into the Thursday morning commute. Roads, bridges, and overpasses may become slick as temperatures fall and snow continues.

Behind the system, much colder air is expected to settle into the region for the latter part of the week and into the weekend. Wind chills are forecast to drop into the single digits and possibly below zero at times, increasing the risk of cold-related impacts…
