Cause of death revealed for 3-year-old girl found unresponsive in south Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Franklin County Coroner’s Office released on Tuesday the autopsy report for a 3-year-old girl who was allegedly killed by her mother on New Year’s Eve.

Cassidy Sakoulos was found unresponsive at a home on Orson Drive. She was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to the report, Cassidy’s cause of death was asphyxia by suffocation and smothering. The report stated that her head was inserted into a plastic bag with her mouth and nose covered. She also had visible signs of bruising…
