Three individuals were detained by police officers during an Ohio State University campus demonstration protesting U.S. Customs and Border Protection recruiters tabling at a career fair.
About 60 Ohio State students, employees and community members gathered at the Ohio Union Jan. 20 for the protest. Among the 150 public and private sector employers participating in Ohio State’s College of Arts and Sciences annual spring career fair was Customs and Border Protection, an agency overseen by the Department of Homeland Security.
Protestors gathered on the Ohio Union’s first floor before walking upstairs to the Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom, where the career fair was held. Students swiped in using their BuckIDs to enter the event and gathered around CBP’s table.
