OHIO — A large number of school districts, private schools, childcare centers, and community programs across Ohio have announced closures or schedule changes for Friday, January 23, 2026, as winter weather conditions continue to impact travel and safety.
Among districts adjusting schedules, Bellefontaine City Schools will operate on a two-hour delay, while Midview Local Schools are closed for the day. Most other schools across Cuyahoga, Lorain, Ashtabula, Summit, Stark, Erie, and surrounding counties have canceled classes entirely. This includes numerous public school districts such as Elyria City Schools, Lakewood City Schools, Parma City Schools, Lorain City Schools, Avon Lake City Schools, Rocky River City Schools, and North Olmsted City Schools, along with dozens of charter, private, and faith-based schools.
In northwest Ohio, closures extend beyond K–12 education. Toledo Public Schools, multiple Catholic and Christian schools, career centers, colleges, childcare facilities, and community organizations have all announced closures for Friday.
