Westerville man indicted in federal court for impersonating law enforcement

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Westerville man was indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly impersonating law enforcement.

The indictment, unsealed Wednesday, alleges that Brendan Conklin, of Westerville, pretended to be an officer and employee of the United States around December 14, 2023, and unlawfully detained and arrested a person. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Conklin was arrested over a month after the date on the indictment by Westerville police on state charges of impersonating a police officer and unlawful restraint. Those charges were later dismissed, and Conklin has since filed an application to seal the case…
