Bojangles plans fourth Columbus-area restaurant

LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH) — Bojangles is planning to open its fourth central Ohio location, after receiving initial zoning approvals earlier this month.

The fast-food chain, known for its Southern-style chicken and biscuits, submitted plans to the Lancaster Board of Zoning Appeals for a new restaurant at 1736 N. Memorial Drive, a site home to a vacant commercial building. If the project moves forward, plans call for a 3,000-square-foot restaurant featuring a drive-thru and 27 parking spaces.

The Lancaster Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approved three requests related to the project during its Jan. 12 meeting. The board granted two zoning exceptions, allowing for a drive-thru and outdoor dining, as well as one area variance permitting the building to be constructed without a pitched roof.

Bojangles’ proposed Lancaster restaurant would mark the chain’s continued expansion in central Ohio. The company opened its first area location in Hilliard in 2023, followed by a second restaurant in Heath later that year. A third central Ohio location opened in Delaware last summer.

Bojangles’ expansion into the Columbus-area market is part of a broader franchise agreement with longtime franchise owner Jeff Rigsby. Under the deal, announced in 2021, Rigsby plans to open about 45 Bojangles restaurants over several years…
