COLUMBUS, Ohio — As dangerously cold temperatures continue across central Ohio, warming centers say they are prepared to meet demand as people experiencing homelessness, or needing a safe place to stay, seek shelter from life-threatening conditions.
Warming centers provide temporary, safe, heated spaces for people to escape extreme cold, often offering cots, blankets, meals and supportive services.
The Community Shelter Board says the additional capacity of more than 70 beds added ahead of last weekend’s winter storm has continued to meet demand, allowing the system to remain flexible as temperatures remain low…
