Villager who drank at country club detained after crashing golf cart at tunnel

A villager who admitted to drinking at a country club has been detained after ramming his golf cart into a tunnel.

Scott David Morgan, 56, of the Village of Belvedere, was detained this week at his house at 2430 Morven Park Way on a warrant for driving under the influence.

According to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the warrant was issued after a blood toxicology sample was returned from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory, which revealed Morgan had a blood alcohol level of.259/.261 on Oct. 30 when he crashed his EZ-GO golf cart into a light pole after traveling at a high rate of speed through the golf cart tunnel at County Road 101 near Southern Trace Plaza.
