Ringleader, 16 others convicted in Ohio’s largest drug-smuggling ring

ZANESVIILE – The ringleader of a 17-person drug-smuggling operation into numerous Ohio prisons is facing a nearly 150-year sentence, after a two-week jury trial ended Feb. 12.

Justin Allen Alexander, 47, of Zanesville, was found guilty of 50 felonies, mostly third-degree money laundering, but also engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity; aggravated and attempted trafficking of pinaca, butinaca, and/or methamphetamine; cocaine trafficking; illegal and attempted conveyance of drugs into a prison; conspiracy, attempted aggravated drug trafficking, and aggravated drug possession.

While incarcerated in the Southern Ohio Regional Correctional Facility in Lucasville, he was involved in multiple schemes, making for the largest prison conspiracy case in state history, according to an announcement from the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office…
