Columbus driver killed in Brewery District crash identified by coroner

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office has identified a Columbus man killed in a single-vehicle crash Feb. 17 at the southern end of the Brewery District.

Columbus police responded just before 8:10 p.m. to a report of a crash involving a 2003 Ford Explorer at the intersection of South High Street and Thurman Avenue, according to a Columbus police crash report. Eyewitnesses told police that the Explorer was traveling north on South High Street when it ran off the right side of the road at Greenlawn Avenue and struck a utility pole and a tree at the intersection, then continued on to Thurman Avenue before the vehicle stopped.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 28-year-old Robert Carson, was ejected from the SUV along the way, the report states. Medics with the Columbus Division of Fire transported him in life-threatening condition to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Downtown, where he was pronounced dead at 8:33 p.m., according to the crash report…
