Fish frys trying to balance profit with increasing costs

(WKBN) — With Feb. 18 being Ash Wednesday, the 40-day season of Lent is underway. For many churches and organizations, it marks the return of fish frys. However, the price of fish is going up, forcing in the cost of some dinners to do the same.

Leading into Wednesday, many churches and organizations were asking themselves how much to charge for their fish frys. The challenge was figuring out how to make some profit while still offering dinner at a reasonable price.

David Redig of St. Luke Knights of Columbus says while the price of fish has gone up, the cost of sides has stayed the same or even become cheaper — helping keep dinners at $15 like last year…
