COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Nearly 13 years after a woman was killed inside a northeast Columbus home, a cold case from March 2013 has been reopened with charges and newly released details. The 911 calls describe a violent attack and a suspected motive involving claims of satanic influence.
The 911 call in March 2013 brought police to a home along Wildwood Boulevard in northeast Columbus. In the call, the victim’s mother told a dispatcher, “My son and his daughter, his baby’s mother, tried to kill me in my home.” She also said, “He was telling me that the devil was telling him that he had to sacrifice me.”
Earlier this month, Breyon Bryant was charged with the murder of Daivena Clay. Court records say Bryant strangled Clay at his mother’s home, then dragged Clay’s body to the basement and doused her in bleach. Records say Bryant’s mother woke up and confronted him about the smell of bleach, and he then yelled at her and ran off.
In another portion of the 911 call, Bryant’s mother said, “Satan told him if I don’t scarifice you… I’ll have to take my life tonight.” She also described the attack, saying, “As he was choking me out, the girlfriend was behind him going, don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t stop.”…
