Ohio seeking deer population control options

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The growing deer population has been a big talker in Clintonville and across central Ohio for years. To that end, the city of Columbus held a community conversation Wednesday after releasing the results from its citywide deer management survey.

“We just wanted people to come together to learn about the different management options that we can do here in Ohio,” Columbus City Councilmember Nancy Day-Achauer said. “We want to hear their feedback on how they feel about those.”

The survey found that more than 70% of people would like to see the deer population decrease. Nearly 4,000 residents responded, and while people across Columbus weighed in, those living in Clintonville made up the majority of respondents.
