COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — From fish sandwiches to shrimp tacos, limited-time seafood items are popping up at fast food restaurants, arriving just in time for Lent.
The 40-day season, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday, is a time when Catholics traditionally avoid eating meat on Fridays. Whether diners are looking to observe the pre-Easter Christian practice or if they just like seafood, there are several menu items everyone can enjoy.

Arby’s
For a limited time, Arby’s has two fish sandwich options on its menu. • Crispy Fish Sandwich: Fish fillet with shredded lettuce and tartar sauce on a toasted sesame bun. • King’s Hawaiian Fish Deluxe Sandwich: Fish fillet with cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce on a toasted King’s Hawaiian roll.
Burger King
• Big Fish: White Alaskan pollock with crispy panko breading, tartar sauce, lettuce and pickles on a toasted potato bun.
Culver’s
Culver’s is serving up two special walleye items just in time for Lent.• Northwoods Walleye Sandwich: A hand-battered fillet topped with tartar sauce and shredded lettuce, served on a lightly buttered, toasted hoagie roll.• Northwoods Walleye Dinner: Two or three hand-battered fillets served with Culver’s family recipe tartar sauce featuring olives, capers and sweet relish. Diners can choose two side dishes plus a warm dinner roll.
Dairy Queen
• Wild Alaska Fish Sandwich: Alaska Pollock lightly coated and fried, paired with crisp lettuce and a creamy, tangy tartar sauce, on a toasted bun.
Del Taco
Del Taco is bringing back its seasonal jumbo shrimp items, available in both taco and burrito form. For a limited time, diners can get two shrimp tacos for $6.
