Students raise money for cancer research

Worthingway Middle School teacher Shane Tisdale isn’t so presumptuous that he believes he is the reason a group of former students who were in Tisdale’s mentor program at the school have gone on to do great things as freshmen, this year.

Meara Cline, Gianna Dixon, Leah Duffy, Lucy Gee, Izzy Luca, Reese McEnery, Victoria Ossa and Lizzie Wester have joined the cause of Blood Cancer United and have become student visionaries to raise funds and awareness for the disease.

“We just wanted to let people in Worthington know our cause,” said McEnery. “Lucy is the one who got us involved in the program. Her mom knows someone who has been affected by blood cancer, and we decided that we needed to put a group together and grow.

“We work to raise money to combat blood cancer and to give patients education advocacy.”…
