Six years after arrest in west Columbus murder, suspect receives sentence

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A murder suspect whose case has been in court for six years was sentenced after a plea bargain.

German Sanchez Jr. was facing murder charges, along with one count each of attempted murder, felonious assault, and having weapons under disability in the death of one man and the injury of another.

Sanchez, now 24, turned himself in one week after the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Jacob Todd on Feb. 18, 2020. The shooting occurred at the Windrush Apartment complex in the far west side of Columbus.

Todd was pronounced dead at the scene while another victim, 21, was hospitalized in critical condition…
