Thousands without power in Ohio

OHIO — Nearly 28,000 homes and businesses across Ohio are without electricity Friday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

The outage tracking service reported 27,682 customers without power out of more than 5.3 million customers monitored statewide, representing about 0.52% of customers. Ohio currently has the second-highest number of outages in the United States, according to the site’s latest update.

FirstEnergy reported the largest number of outages, with 20,047 customers without electricity. Other utilities reporting outages included Duke Energy with 2,777 customers affected, American Electric Power Ohio with 2,119, and AES Ohio with 970
