Columbus family seeks answers after crash kills both parents during police pursuit

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Columbus family is pleading for answers after a crash in South Linden over the weekend killed both of their parents, 71-year-old Franklin Ward and 52-year-old Tessa Berry.

“Our family shouldn’t be going through this,” said their daughter, Frantessa Ward.

Columbus police said Ward and Berry were in a Saturn that was struck by a Toyota Prius driven by a 17-year-old. Officers said they had tried to stop the teen’s car because it was believed to be connected to a shooting, but the car sped away during the traffic stop. Minutes later, police said, as they pursued the vehicle, it drove through a stop sign and struck Ward and Berry’s car. Berry died at the scene, and Ward died at a local hospital…
