Franklinton market settles racketeering lawsuit with Columbus and Franklin County

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Franklinton market accused of selling stolen merchandise has reached a lawsuit settlement with the City of Columbus.

According to the City Attorney’s Office, Columbus and Franklin County attorneys have reached an agreement with Herbert’s Market in the city’s West Side, resolving allegations of the market purportedly selling stolen goods.

The lawsuit claimed that the market located on Sullivant Avenue repeatedly and knowingly attempted to sell stolen goods, in violation of the Ohio Corrupt Practices Act. This prompted a Columbus police investigation and claims of racketeering against the store and its owner Ahmad Arman.

Court documents also showed the city aimed to declare the business a public nuisance after records stated that between July 2022 through the summer of 2025, the market was subject to 138 calls for police assistance for various criminal activities.
