New dog attack law goes into effect in Ohio

(WKBN) – New rules start Wednesday for vicious dog owners to prevent dog attacks in Ohio.

Avery’s Law is intended to strengthen previous, outdated state laws while giving authorities more tools to protect communities.The law also made changes to investigation and enforcement requirements when authorities receive complaints.It gives the local dog warden the authority to seize a dog immediately following such an attack.In cases where a dog kills or seriously injures a person, the law requires the dog to be euthanized after due process.Animal shelters also have stricter liability for owner surrenders with unknown history…
