A Columbus man has admitted to pulling the trigger in the 2025 killing of his girlfriend inside a University District apartment, pleading guilty Thursday to reduced charges that sharply cut his potential prison time.
On March 12, 2026, Gage Smith entered guilty pleas to one count of reckless homicide with a firearm specification and one count of possession of drugs. He is scheduled to be sentenced in Franklin County Municipal Court on April 9.
