Ohio State med student Brian Shaffer vanished after night out, never seen again

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Two decades after Ohio State medical student Brian Shaffer walked into a campus bar and vanished, the mystery that has gripped central Ohio remains unsolved — and investigators say someone still knows what happened.

Shaffer, 27, was last seen April 1, 2006, when he went out to the Ugly Tuna Saloona near the Ohio State campus. Surveillance video captured him inside the bar, but he was not seen on camera leaving. When his friends were ready to go, they could not find him and left without him. After that night, Shaffer was never seen or heard from again.

At the time, Shaffer was just days away from spring break with his girlfriend, Alexis Waggoner, and there was the possibility of an engagement.

“It’s surreal to me every single day to wake up and think he’s going to call, and I run over to his apartment and knock on the door and he’s not there,” Waggoner said during those first days of his disappearance…
