City attorney orders shutdown of southeast Columbus tire shop deemed ‘dangerous’

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The City of Columbus announced Monday that it secured an order to shut down a tire shop on the southeast side of the city, citing a slew of hazards and safety concerns.

Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein said the order to shutter Best Deal Tire and Rims, located at 3720 Refugee Rd., comes after a failed safety inspection by the Columbus Division of Fire last month. Klein said inspectors found dozens of serious fire and electrical hazards at the shop.

“Businesses have a duty to operate safety, both for their employees and the neighborhoods they’re located in. The conditions at this shop were so dangerous that we had no choice but to step in and push for closure. It’s a matter of public safety,” Klein said in a news release…
