Shootings, security failures spark permanent shutdown of Linden bar

LINDEN, Ohio (WSYX) — The city permanently shut down a Linden bar after a man was shot and killed inside early Friday morning, prompting the city to take the owners to court over what it described as a long history of violence.

The First Stop Bar & Grill’s “open” sign was turned off and the front door was boarded up after the closure. Court records show Judge Stephanie Mingo ordered the owners to turn over their keys and their liquor license after the business was declared a public nuisance.

Longtime Linden resident Cherron Hudson said she never had issues when she went to the bar with friends, but called it “bittersweet” to see it closed because the violence had gotten out of control…
