A tense Friday-night confrontation on Columbus’ northeast side ended with gunfire, a wounded victim, and an early-morning arrest, according to police.
Officers were first called to the Bar Harbor Road area on reports of a fight and a single gunshot. By the time they arrived, neither the suspect nor the victim was at the scene. A short time later, a person with an upper-body gunshot wound walked into a local hospital and was later transferred to another facility. Police said the victim is expected to survive.
Investigators ultimately identified 28-year-old Michael Stevens of Columbus as the alleged shooter and charged him with felonious assault, according to CW Columbus. The outlet reports that a tip from the hospital helped detectives connect the dots and locate the wounded victim after the initial scene had cleared.
