Columbus woman arrested nearly 10 years after South Linden homicide

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Nearly 10 years after a man died in the doorway of his own home, Columbus police have made an arrest.

On Dec. 17, 2016, Columbus officers responded to reports of an unresponsive person at a home on Duxberry Avenue, near the intersection of Billiter Boulevard in South Linden.

Police arrived at 1:42 a.m. and found Darrin Mitchell lying inside the home with a gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to Grant Medical Center and pronounced dead at 2:18 a.m.

At the time of Mitchell’s death, Lashonta Sullivan, Mitchell’s live-in girlfriend, said Mitchell left to go to a bar on East Dublin Granville Road and Karl Road. Sullivan told police that when Mitchell came home, she let him in the home and thought he was drunk. He reportedly fell to the floor, not breathing, and she called 911…
