Strong to severe storms possible Monday night into overnight hours

OHIO – A round of potentially strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to move into Ohio late tonight, with the greatest risk focused on the western part of the state.

Conditions will remain dry through most of the day Monday, but isolated showers and storms are expected to develop across western Ohio during the evening hours. The primary line of storms is forecast to arrive after 10 p.m., sweeping eastward overnight before exiting eastern Ohio by around 3 a.m.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed western Ohio under a marginal risk – Level 1 of 5 – for severe weather. The primary concern with these storms will be damaging wind gusts, which could reach speeds of up to 60 mph.

Besides strong winds, storms may produce locally heavy rainfall. This could cause standing water on roadways and the potential for minor flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas…
