DHS requests voter records in Franklin County

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Questions are growing after new records reveal the U.S. Department of Homeland Security requested voter information for dozens of Franklin County residents as part of what was described as an investigation.

Emails obtained through a public records request show a federal agent contacted the Franklin County Board of Elections in January, seeking “immediate access” to voter records. In the weeks that followed, those requests expanded, with the agent asking for voter registration forms and voting histories tied to dozens of individuals.

According to the emails, the requested records included sensitive information such as driver’s license numbers. The agent also sought details about local voter registration groups, describing the matter as “very time sensitive” and part of an ongoing investigation…
