DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA – On June 8, 2026, Desert Hot Springs Police Department (DHSPD) detectives assisted a Riverside County task force in conducting compliance checks on registered sex offenders and parolees under supervision for violent sex crimes.
During the operation, an adult female resident of Desert Hot Springs mistakenly identified the personnel as federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The individual drove past the location multiple times in an attempt to record the investigators. Authorities reported that the female drove her vehicle in a reckless manner, nearly striking investigators at the scene.
DHSPD detectives attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield. The driver continued operating the vehicle until arriving at the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, where she was taken into custody by officers.
