A devastating vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision in Irvine has tragically turned fatal. On August 17, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Irvine Police Department (IPD) responded to a major traffic accident at the intersection of Yale Avenue and Meadowood.
According to preliminary reports from the Irvine Police Department, a Chevrolet pick-up truck was stopped eastbound on Meadowood before driving directly into the intersection of Yale Avenue. At that exact moment, 78-year-old Irvine resident Jinshui Li was walking northbound on the east side of the intersection, crossing within an unmarked crosswalk. The pick-up truck collided with Mr. Li, leaving him with severe injuries.
First responders from the IPD and the Orange County Fire Authority quickly arrived on the scene to provide emergency medical aid. Mr. Li was rushed to a nearby hospital, but authorities confirmed that he tragically passed away from his injuries the following night…
