City Hall Selling 2882 Mission Inn Ave. for $1 to Build 10 Affordable Homes

A vacant lot on Mission Inn Avenue that’s been sitting empty for nearly two decades is about to become 10 income-restricted apartments—and the city is selling the land to make it happen for exactly one dollar.

The Riverside Housing Authority is asking the City Council to approve a Disposition and Development Agreement with Grapevine Development, LLC to convey the 0.22-acre parcel at 2882 Mission Inn Avenue for $1, according to a Housing Authority memorandum dated Sept. 1.

The property, in Ward 1, has a history that starts with a fire. The former Redevelopment Agency acquired the site in 2008. A single-family home on the lot was destroyed in a fire and later demolished, leaving the parcel vacant ever since…
