Murrieta, California (LAI) – Jobana Secilia Machuca, a 47-year-old woman from Menifee, has been ordered to stand trial on charges of attempted murder and other related offenses. The ruling came following a preliminary hearing where Riverside County Superior Court Judge John Davis found sufficient evidence against Machuca.
The incident leading to Machuca’s arrest occurred a year ago at her residence on Farbo Court in Menifee. According to Menifee Police Lieutenant Paul Barbieri, Machuca was involved in a domestic dispute with an adult male acquaintance on January 27, 2023. The altercation escalated, resulting in Machuca allegedly shooting the man in the left side of his upper torso.
Emergency services were promptly called to the scene, and the victim was transported to a regional trauma center. He has since recovered from his injuries. Machuca was taken into custody without further incident.
Along with the attempted murder charge, Machuca faces charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm resulting in great bodily injury and a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Her post-preliminary hearing arraignment is scheduled for March 14 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
