The Fullerton Police Department is alerting residents to a recent spike in residential burglaries throughout the city, suspecting the involvement of the South American Theft Groups (SATG’s). This group is notorious for its alleged involvement in hundreds of burglaries across Southern California, police said.
The burglaries have primarily occurred during daytime and early evening hours, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Targets include homes backing up to trails, golf courses, and parks, with entry points often being master bedrooms or second-story bedrooms, police said. The perpetrators, believed to be part of the SATG, are known to deploy “lookouts” in vehicles stationed in front of residences, working in pairs or groups, police added. To avoid detection, they often disguise themselves, wearing construction vests and carrying ladders, police said.
Law enforcement is urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity. Fullerton Police Department emphasizes the importance of the community’s role in enhancing safety. If residents observe anything unusual, they are encouraged to contact the Dispatch Center at 714-738-6700. Providing detailed descriptions of suspects, vehicles, and the direction of travel can significantly aid law enforcement efforts.
