Paraglider found dead on mountainside in Riverside County

Search and rescue crews located a dead paraglider on a mountainside in Riverside County on Sunday.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the initial report of a stranded individual came out at 9:45 a.m. Sunday near the 200 block of Soboba Road near Gilman Hot Springs and San Jacinto.

After crews began their search, the paraglider was found on a mountainside approximately 1,000 feet above sea level, fire officials said on X, formerly Twitter .

Man fatally shot outside L.A. County elementary school

A hoist helicopter was requested to the incident but was called off after paramedics confirmed the paraglider to be deceased, authorities said.

Neither their identity nor cause of death have been released.

A nearby flight school owner indicated that the decedent was 28 years old and was an experienced pilot and speed flier who was doing advanced maneuvers.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has assumed the investigation.
