On February 9, 2024, at approximately 3:35 PM, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a distress call reporting an electrocution incident with an individual impaled on a wrought-iron fence at 5920 Jasmine St.
Upon arrival, the first due Captain encountered a harrowing scene—a conscious and breathing adult male with significant burns to his body, impaled on a rod iron fence. The victim had reportedly been working on the roof of a nearby business when he came into direct contact with energized power lines. The electrical shock caused him to be knocked off the roof, resulting in a 20-foot fall onto the fence.
Due to the intricate nature of the situation, the Riverside City Fire Technical Rescue Team, along with an additional engine, was summoned to the scene to facilitate the challenging extrication process. Witnesses recounted the traumatic incident, detailing the victim’s fall and the subsequent impalement.
The Tech Rescue Team worked diligently and methodically to free the man from the fence, ensuring the safety of all involved. Riverside Police Department officers were present at the scene, providing crucial support in managing the incident.
